Stacey H. Pray Founder and President of SHP Project Development

Stacey H. Pray is the Founder and President of SHP Project Development, Inc. She is a registered architect with over 25 years of experience in the area of construction project management. Ms. Pray has a strong knowledge of all phases of master planning, budgeting, design review and construction administration. She is skilled in diagnosing a company’s business objectives and development goals. She has captured an understanding of both the motivations and restrictions of business owners. Ms. Pray is responsible for the overall management of SHP Project Development.

Her unique background of having worked as an architect, facility representative, and as a corporate level owner’s representative makes her eminently qualified to handle any and all phases of a construction project. Her clear and thorough approach to communication gives clients confidence and builds consensus among decision-makers.

Ms. Pray is currently a Certified Access Specialist (CASp-130), and is knowledgeable in all aspects of what businesses need to do in order to be compliant with state and federal access requirements.

Ms. Pray holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley. She is a licensed architect in the State of California (C-21690). Ms. Pray is a member of the Foothill Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the American College of Healthcare Architects (ACHA) and the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA).

Kassandra Smith has been Administrator for SHP Project Development since January 2009. She has an excellent understanding of organizational structure, operations management and communications. Her positive team attitude and adaptability have allowed her to engage and grow SHP over her tenure with the firm.

Ms. Smith is involved with many operational facets of the firm, from office management to client relations. Her key responsibilities include: writing agreements for clients, contractors and architects; recording and maintaining all correspondence between SHP and clients; processing all accounts payable and accounts receivable between the owner, contractor and architect; sustaining all files and records for clients; and managing SHP’s accounting and human resources. She serves as a liaison between our project management teams and our clients. In addition, Ms. Smith is responsible for coordinating all public relations, internship management & marketing communications for SHP Project Development.

Ms. Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of Iowa (2000). She has worked as a Department Coordinator for Planning and Design at a commercial contractor and was a Business Analyst and Operations Manager for a national hospitality corporation. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA).

Kelly Pray Kelly Pray is a new addition to SHP Project Development, Inc. starting in 2017 and has demonstrated success in change management and process improvement from her work in the Management Engineering and Internal Consulting Department at Mayo Clinic. Her past experiences working with community-based health care systems and certification in LEAN management has brought additional operations support to the SHP Project Development team.

Her key responsibilities include operations management and logistics planning for clients alongside business development initiatives for SHP. Her strong leadership ability and synthesis of analytical and interpersonal skills will be greatly beneficial to her project management work.

Ms. Pray holds a Bachelor of Arts from University of California, Berkeley in Political Development and Health. While she was a student, she competed on the NCAA Division 1 Women’s Rowing team. Ms. Pray additionally holds a Masters of Healthcare Administration from University of North Florida. While attending, she was awarded the Health Administration Advisory Board’s Outstanding Student Award and additionally received the UNF Annual Quality Management Award. She is in active pursuit of her Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification. She serves as a member of the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) and American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).

Jeffrey Avruch Senior Project Manager

Jeffrey Avruch has recently joined SHP Project Development, Inc. after over 20 years of leadership experience in the construction industry. Mr. Avruch has a proven track record developing, implementing, and executing technically complex mission critical projects. Additionally, Mr. Avruch is experienced in commissioning for both Tier 3 and Tier 4 data centers and healthcare/hospital organizations.

Mr. Avruch currently manages several projects with key clients. His responsibilities include: overseeing the budget and schedule, preparing contracts, facilitating the collaboration among project team members, processing invoices and change order requests. His strong attention to detail, vast experience, and dedicated problem-solving skills are invaluable to any project team.

Mr. Avruch holds a Bachelor’s in Science from the University of Wisconsin and a Master’s in Technology Education from West Virginia University. He is a current Association of Energy Engineers Certified Building Commissioning Professional and member of the American Society for Healthcare Engineering Construction Program.

Evan Scott has recently joined SHP Project Development, Inc. Backed by a 20-year career in the construction industry, Mr. Scott has an extensive background working with constructors, architects, engineers, end-users, and owners, managing the full facilities spectrum from initial requirements to closeout. Additionally, Mr. Scott has a passion for program controls, utilizing data and metrics to provide accurate progress and forecasting reports for clients.

Mr. Scott currently supports SHP Development with business development initiatives and technical expertise. His key responsibilities include: providing technical mentorship to project-team members servicing clients, business development, and operational improvement support. He also performs data analysis and generates reports to address project needs. His strong analytical abilities, leadership, and passion for excellence have elevated SHP’s operational processes.

Mr. Scott holds a Bachelor’s in Construction Management from Colorado State University and a Master’s of Business Administration in Finance from Pepperdine University. He is a current member of CMAA and supports the local community both on the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce as a Legislative Committee Member and as a participant in the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce’s Southern California Leadership Network.

George Mendez has recently joined SHP Project Development, Inc. after almost a decade of working in architecture offices and as a project manager for an international fast fashion retailer. His ability to manage and coordinate the work of architects, engineers, consultants, vendors, contractors, and other professionals have translated to an understanding of collaboration beneficial to each project and in keeping with the client’s needs, budget, and schedule.

He is currently managing several projects with various clients. His key responsibilities include: facilitating the collaboration among project team members, overseeing the budget schedule, contracts, project logs, and invoices. He also performs data analysis and generates reports to address project needs. His deep knowledge of architectural design and diverse management experience will enable him much success with his project teams.

Mr. Mendez holds a Bachelor of Architecture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. While he was a student, we was a recipient of an AIA Education award and interned at three architecture offices. He is in active pursuit in earning his architectural license (NCARB #133764) with substantial progress in the Architectural Registration Examination. He has extensive knowledge of building information modelling and design software programs. He is an Associate member of the American Institute for Architects Pasadena/Foothill Chapter and a member of the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA).

Bertha Rivera is a recent Construction Project Management graduate and has been with SHP Project Development since November 2015. Ms. Rivera has a strong educational background in construction management, and is progressing very quickly in her role at SHP.

Ms. Rivera currently works under SHP’s team of project managers, where she processes much of the everyday project paperwork, including project change orders, meeting minutes, project logs and invoices. Her key responsibilities in her role as assistant project manager include: ability to function comfortably with new and existing clients, work productively in a team environment, interface successfully with jurisdictional agencies and administer construction in process, as well as other APM responsibilities. Ms. Rivera enjoys working on Certified Access Specialist (CASp) projects where she is responsible for comparing and analyzing code requirements versus existing conditions for CASp surveys.

Ms. Rivera holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from California State University, Northridge. She is a member of the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) and is in-process to receive her CMIT (Construction Manager in Training) certification.
